viewpoint: 

Use the mouse inside the unit circle to rotate the figure in any arbitrary direction.  Drag the mouse out of the circle to leave the figure spinning.

Use the mouse outside the circle to rotate the figure around the z axis.

Use the x, y, and z sliders to gimbal the figure as-is around the x, y, and z axes.

The viewpoint determines the apparent perspective, near to far.

The near edges of the figure are black; the far ones fade to gray as if receding in a fog.  Sometimes it takes a moment to mentally orient the figure, especially when viewed from below.  Note that the x and y sliders move the near parts of the figure in the same direction as themselves.
